Purifying Wood Types, According To Tao

Purifying wood types, according to Tao

Trees are quiet friends that we tend to spontaneously move towards. We look for their shadow, lean against their trunks, or climb to the top of them as a playful challenge. Trees are naturally attractive to humans. They are living beings, and no matter where they are, they give us the feeling that we are not alone.

Wherever there is a tree, there is also oxygen, then there is life. Researcher Matthew Silverston conducted a study on this subject and published a book called Blinded by Science . In it, he develops an interesting theory about the benefits of squeezing and being in contact with trees.

“Tree Therapy” is a trend that emerged after these findings. But for thousands of years, Eastern cultures have talked about the physical and mental health benefits of squeezing trees and being in contact with the forest. Zen is one of the doctrines that gives the highest value to nature’s cleansing power.

Trees and health

Based on both Eastern and Western studies, people have mapped a whole overview of the concrete positive results of squeezing every tree. Some trees have become more important because of their ability to cleanse certain ailments. Here they are:

Orange trees
  • Pine. They are venerable in Chinese and Japanese culture. They are considered important trees there. According to Zen wisdom, they help strengthen the immune system and improve circulation.
  • Cypress.  Squeezing them will help you achieve greater peace, and reduce body heat and rage.
  • Willow. They help regulate body fluids. They affect the well-being of the urinary tract.
  • Alm. They strengthen the stomach and soothe the emotions.
  • Payment. They help cleanse away “bad energies” or negative thoughts, and can cause physical pain to go down.
  • Great. They reduce swelling and help with the healing process of broken bones.
  • Birch. They detoxify the body.
  • Cinnamon tree. They improve the health of the heart and all the organs of the stomach.
  • Plum tree. They help to improve the function of the pancreas and stomach.

They say that Galen, one of the fathers of medicine, advised all his patients to spend some time in laurel forests. Paul, another doctor, said that people with epilepsy got better when they slept near flowering linden trees. And every doctor, in every day and age, has always recognized the purifying value of contact with nature.

Therapies with trees and forests

Wood therapy is a field of alternative medicine that uses trees and forests as a source of cleansing. They say that all plants have many negative ions within them. So, putting yourself in touch with them will clean out electromagnetic toxins and your state of mind will improve.

From this point of view, contact with electronic devices, and the stress that comes with them, fills our bodies with positive ions. In these scenarios, it is as if the body is transformed into a walking transformer. This makes us feel tired, irritable, depressed and as if we lack energy. Just the fact that we put ourselves in contact with the forest neutralizes all that. And squeezing a tree does even more.

Walking barefoot on a meadow and squeezing trees is a practice we recommend especially for people who feel nervous and insecure.  In addition, it is recommended for anyone who experiences too much fatigue or feels emotionally exhausted. Matthew Silverston says that it is like “absorbing vitamins in the air”. This activates all the functions of our body, so it will even end up helping our brains.

One of the bad things about living in big cities is exactly how difficult it is to get in frequent contact with real forests. Just the fact that we look at the green in the plants and breathe in the air they create around them, is a beautiful experience in itself. We do not need to know much to know that forests calm us down. In addition, it costs nothing. It requires no special qualifications, and, even better, it can have many benefits. How about starting by including visits to the forest in your routine of activities?
