The Power Of Positive Thinking And Positive Affirmation

The power of positive thinking and positive affirmation

Positive thinking, if well controlled, makes us stronger against mood disorders . Depression has many causes, but thoughts of low self-esteem, being unworthy, or not being good enough, play an important role in it. With positive thinking, you can change your thought process. This way you can make it work in your favor and not in your courage.

Thinking is, as a rule, a confident statement of one’s perception of truth. Repetition of this kind of truth in the form of positive thinking has helped thousands of people make significant changes in their lives. However, the results are not the same for everyone. So why can one person benefit from an internal dialogue full of positive affirmation while others cannot?

Well, positive thinking can work because of its ability to motivate, encourage and even make us think about working on a particular idea. It does not matter if there is no reality behind them. The most important thing is that we treat it as a natural reality. The mind does not see the difference between what is real and what is fantasy. This is what happens when you watch a movie and start laughing or crying. The brain identifies with the characters on the screen and reacts based on the story.

5 steps to make positive thinking more effective and powerful

If a negative belief is deeply rooted in our subconscious, it has the ability to push aside many of our positive thoughts, even if we are not aware of it. This is why for many people, positive affirmation does not seem to work. What happens is that their negative thought patterns are so strong that they collide with the positive ones. They are pushed aside with emotional baggage.

The good news is that we can apply positive thinking and enable ourselves to overcome too much negative thinking. For this, psychotherapist Ronald Alexander suggests the following steps:

Negative

  • Make a list of what you think are your negative qualities. Include some criticisms that others have made about you. Do not judge whether it is true or not. We are all wrong, and that is what makes us human. Just pay attention to everything you can think of and look for a collective expression: “I am worthy” or whatever it is you think about yourself. Then write repeated  beliefs, and observe if you feel it anywhere in your body. For example, when you feel injustice or fear, do you feel it in your heart or stomach?

Positive

  • Write a statement about the positive side of your self-assessment. You can even use synonyms and use stronger words to strengthen this sentence. For example, instead of saying, “I am worthy,” you could say, “I am important and valued.” After writing your positive statement, ask someone you trust to read it to see if they have any suggestions for making it more powerful.
  • Recite the positive statement aloud for about five minutes, three times a day: in the morning, at dinner, and in the evening. Repeat the positive statement for yourself in front of the mirror. You can look at yourself as you repeat it. Another way is to write the affirmative statement several times in a notebook. Make an observation of the changes in your writing style over time. This may indicate a change in your thinking.
  • Feel the positive statement in your body. Do it again while placing your hand on the area where you felt sad when you wrote the negative belief in step one.  You can also “inhale” the positive statement while saying it or writing it down. By reprogramming your mind, you will make it a reality.
  • Let someone you trust repeat your positive statement. Find someone you are comfortable with or use the reflection in the mirror to act as someone who will strengthen the good message.

Identify your negative thinking with meditation.

Positive out legends can be powerful tools to help you change your outlook. It can also be a means of supporting the change you want to make. Also remember that it is most effective when you identify your negative thoughts first.

Self-awareness meditation is a very effective method that helps you discover the subconscious. It allows you to categorize the things that are good for you. Practicing self-awareness does not seek immediate change. It seeks to find the strength and ability to accept who we are, so that we can make a change and move towards what is possible.
